Three Design 1 studio streams are run in first semester first year: Urban, Culture and Material. Each stream adopts a particular focus and introduces different design approaches and ways of thinking and working. Students are placed in small studio groups and undertake intensive workshop driven design projects consecutively in each of the streams.

A parallel set of tutorial based classes on architectural communication give students an introduction to architectural drawing and modelling techniques and practices.
